Deputy Director of Digital Services
The Deputy Director of Digital Services will have a crucial role to play in delivering our future Digital services vision and implementation strategy. You will assist the Director of Digital Services in developing our organization’s digital strategy under the guidance of API leadership for the end–to–end experience of our residents, internal staff, and stakeholders across all our products and services, understanding the city’s existing technology stack, and focusing on the current, intermediate, and future states of the product portfolio.
About the role: As part of a leadership team within API, the role will be focused on how we better meet our internal and external customer needs via our services. You’ll be responsible for helping Director of Digital Services for improvement and change management across the organization as part of our leadership team to ensure we deliver our strategy, both with our current and future “usercentric” services and digital tools. You will be responsible for managing key relationships, coordinating workflow and process to create a coherent approach, and implementing new ways of collaborative work culture design.
Desired qualifications include:
Experience driving digital transformation, utilizing a mix of experience, knowledge, principles, and practices of project management driven by the agile approach.
Thorough knowledge of information technology applications, and implementation standards.
Significant experience in product management, business change, and user-centric design.
Ability to coach, inspire, and empower staff for optimal performance and high morale.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients and stakeholders.
Ability to match digital solutions to solve existing business problems by collaborating with other wings of API like innovation, performance and data division.
Ability to assess and integrate new digital solutions with 'legacy' technology; considering the 'end-to-end, top-to-bottom' architecture of products and services.
Experience creating product roadmaps, define features and solution requirements for implementations.
Building solution architecture design that meets the requirements of relevant stakeholders, managing technical risks, time, and resources.
Minimum qualifications:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent with a Master’s degree and three (3) years of work experience, or its part-time equivalent, involving the development, administration, or management of programs or projects; of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
B. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent with a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of professional level work experience, or its part-time equivalent involving the development, administration, or management of programs or projects; of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
C. Eight (8) years of paraprofessional or professional work experience, or its part-time equivalent, four (4) years of which must have involved professional-level work experience in the development, administration, or analysis of programs or projects; of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
D. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C).

The City of Syracuse will offer this role a starting salary in the range of $75,000 to $80,000 per year and a competitive benefits package.
City of Syracuse residency will be required.
