In August of 2018, we hosted the City of Syracuse’s first annual Civic Innovation Challenge! Five City employees pitched ideas to address challenges to a panel of judges, and two were selected as winners. Watch the video below to learn about the winning projects:
In July, the team put out a call for ideas to address City challenges to all City employees. We collected over 20 ideas that were evaluated based on creativity, sustainability, and impact. The top 5 ideas were selected as finalists to make their pitch to a panel of judges: The Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Director of Administration, and a Common Councilor.
The pitch portion of the competition was catered by Gannon’s Ice Cream, and over 50 City employees came up to watch and support their colleagues. Each contestant did an amazing job, and at the end two winners were selected.
Both ePermits and Helping Hands Syracuse are now in the implementation phase of their projects, and we’re excited to see what ideas come next year!
