This week we added new data to DataCuse focusing on the budget. In his State of the City address, Mayor Walsh detailed some of the challenges the City faces when it comes to finances.
In an effort to be open and to explain the way the City budgets and spends money, we now have data about spending during Fiscal Year 17 (July 1, 2016- June 30, 2017), Fiscal Year 17 Actual Revenues, the Fiscal Year 18 adopted budget, and details on capital and grant-funded projects. Check it all out here: http://data.syrgov.net/pages/budget.
Along with the release of the data, we tried to help show information that comes from the data, like the chart below that shows where revenues to the City come from:
This release serves as an expansion to DataCuse. We now have data about infrastructure, housing, neighborhoods, snowplows, the budget, and more. We think that sharing the information publicly in a format that is easy to understand and use is critical to ensuring people know how the City of Syracuse operates.
As always, let us know how you think we are doing and what other types of data you would like to see!
